Abstract
Black tells Madge Bates that the offer her husband made to sell the mummy for $1,000 was never put in writing, but was made twice verbally. He says that Bates was shown the proofs that his statements about Booth were false, and he was unable to defend his book. Black defends the timing of the publication of his articles. He calls the Booth myths "historical travesties".
